Rebecca L. Robinson, DNP is a nurse practitioner in the Department of Surgery in Cardiothoracic Surgery and a UWMC Medical Staff adjunct. She specializes in the surgical management of patients with advanced heart failure and, prior to her role as a nurse practitioner, she worked as a mechanical circulatory support coordinator at UWMC.

Rebecca earned her bachelor's degree from Andrew's University in Michigan and her D.N.P. from the University of Washington School of Nursing in Seattle. She first came to the U.W.M.C. as a Registered Nurse in the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery and then attended the University of Washington School of Nursing for a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in the Adult-Gerontology Acute Care track.

Rebecca has over 20 years of nursing practice in several specialties. With 10 years spent in Operating Room including heart team roles and 10 years in intensive care post-surgical specialties, she has developed expertise in the perioperative management of patients with heart and lung diseases. She is a successful educator of patients, family members, nursing staff and community members regarding care of mechanical circulatory devices. She is recognized for patient training and cultivating trust and guiding decisions for patients to thrive within the limitations of their heart disease.

Clinical research interests include mechanical circulatory assist devices, heart transplant, and lung transplant. Research interests include ventricular assist device (HeartMate II, HeartWare, HeartMate 3, TAH 70cc, 50cc, Impella, and Tandem, ORGAN CARE SYSTEM (OCS)
